Our Mission
By enhancing the scope and quality of medical and health care services available, the health needs of our residents and of the neighbouring areas can be addressed locally and eliminate costly referrals to larger centres. As a registered charity, we depend on private, corporate and group donations. Memorials, wills, bequests, monthly donations and endowments are other ways you can make a difference.
Our Vision
The Dr. R.E.M. Lee Hospital Foundation, a volunteer organization was created in 1988 to raise funds in support of Mills Memorial Hospital and Terraceview Lodge. Our mandate is ‘to increase and improve the provision of medical care to those who live in the area of Terrace, British Columbia, whether through direct medical services and facilities or medical and educational research which enhances those services and facilities’.
Our Story
A community hospital is an essential resource for everyone living in its surrounding neighbourhoods. Your hospital is important to the health and wellbeing of your family and its role is pivotal to the vibrancy of the community you share with your friends and neighbours. Mills Memorial Hospital and Terraceview Lodge are your local medical facilities for reliable patient-centred health care. With dedicated medical professionals and the support of community partners, these facilities help you and those you care about get well and stay well.
There isn’t a BC hospital that is fully government-funded. Modest government funding is nowhere near enough to satisfy good healthcare levels. Hospitals are expensive to operate but crucial for our medically necessary services. Donations fund approximately 50 per cent of the cost of new and upgraded medical equipment and technology. In fact, over the past 30 years, donors have given close to $3 million to purchase new equipment for Mills Memorial Hospital and Terraceview Lodge.
That’s where The Dr. R.E.M. Lee Hospital Foundation comes in.
As the fundraising arm of the hospital, we bridge the gap between what government provides and what our community needs. Our purpose is to ensure that Mills Memorial Hospital and Terraceview Lodge are equipped in every way to advance the health of all generations that will help maintain the vibrancy of the entire community.
